Stewart B Milstein is a dedicated historian and photographer whose work focuses on New York City’s transit system and diesel locomotives world wide.

A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, his interests were shaped early on by his environment, leading him to become a prolific documentarian of the city's subway infrastructure and rolling stock.

His widely cited work can be found in a variety of publication including Trains, Rail Fan and The Third Rail. He is a frequent contributor to the extensive digital archive at nycsubway.org

His images appear frequently in the “Nostalgia Train” handouts at the NYC Transit Museum and he’s a regular volunteer at the Coney Island Rapid Transit Overhaul Shop
